Georgia Raye (Boyd) Davis, 97, passed away on April 2, 2025, in Elk City, Oklahoma. She was born on July 1, 1927, in Shattuck, Oklahoma, to Arley H. and Esta Lee (Farris) Boyd.
Georgia grew up in Ellis County on the family farm, located about four miles northwest of Arnett, Oklahoma. She attended a country school in the area for her early education before going on to Arnett High School, where she graduated with the class of 1944.
On September 12, 1945, Georgia married J.C. Dishen in Arnett, Oklahoma. Their union was blessed with three daughters: Arleen, Darla, and Carla. From 1946 to 1950, she lived in Bakersfield, California, before returning to Arnett, where she resided until 1980. That year, Georgia married Dale Davis, welcoming two stepsons, Terry and Robyn, into her life. Following Dale's passing in 2007, she relocated to Elk City in 2015, where she remained for the rest of her years.
Throughout her life, Georgia worked in various clerical positions and was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a lifelong woman of faith, growing up in the Arnett Methodist Church before becoming a member of the St. Paul Congregational Church in Shattuck.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Geneva Clem and Anna Faye Ashpaugh; her brother, Loyd J. Boyd; her husbands, J.C. Dishen and Dale Davis; her daughter, Carla (Dishen) Majors; and her stepson, Robyn Davis.
Georgia is survived by her daughters, Arleen (Dishen) Hixson and Darla (Dishen) Clark; her stepson, Terry Davis; seven grandchildren; more than twelve great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of cherished friends and loved ones.
Georgia's legacy of love, faith, and perseverance will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her kindness and devotion to family and community will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
