Born in Heidelberg Twp., Lebanon County, PA on February 25, 1940, he was a son of the late Alvin and Elsie (Ober) Doster.
Chub attended Schaefferstown High School. He worked as a pit loader operator for Pennsy Supply at the Prescott quarry for over 60 years, from where he retired. Chub sang and played music his entire life, most recently with the Chub Doster and Hard Times Band.
He is survived by a companion, Elizabeth Shultz; daughters, Sherrie, wife of Mark Rutherford, Sharon, wife of Gary Knoll; son, Gerald Doster, Jr., companion of Kristy Demmy; granddaughter, Jessica, wife of Kyle Kloepfer; great-granddaughter, Ella; sisters, Hazel Bashore, Arnetta McMichael, Katie Killian, Patricia Gibble; and many nieces and nephews. Chub was preceded in death by brothers, Cloyd, Melvin, and Harlan Doster; and a sister, Fern Behney.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will be private.
