Gerald "Keith" McCune also known as "Coach" or "Pup," age 57, of Marquez, Texas passed away on August 5, 2024 in Marquez. Born on June 22, 1967 in Houston, Keith was the cherished son of Jimmy Lee and Shirley Jean (Grimes) McCune. He was a dedicated educator and coach at Leon ISD for over a decade, positively influencing the lives of countless students.
Keith was a proud graduate of Leon High School and Sam Houston State University. He had a passion for river fishing, football, music and cherished moments spent at South Padre Island. He also loved the circus and always threatened to run off and join one. He preached toughness and a high work ethic. He was also a watermelon farmer and entrepreneur. Above all, Keith was a loving father to his four children.
Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Alice and Roy Grimes and uncles Ronnie and Roy Grimes. He is survived by children Victor Garret McCune & wife, Kacie, Cason Pierce McCune & wife, Catie, Erin Shea Smith and husband, Devin, and James Logan McCune; the mother of his children, Vicki Presswood; brother, Jaisen Shawn McCune; sister, Tamara Dennard McCune; grandchildren, Drew and Brady McCune, Jase, Dawson, and Charlie McCune, Rowen and Wyatt Smith, Arthur Elliot McCune, and two more grandchildren on the way; and special friends, Jeff Robinson, Mike and Mark Read, and Buck Snow; as well as numerous other extended family and countless friends.
A memorial service honoring Keith's life will be held 2 P.M., Sunday, August 11, 2024, at The Gin Palace, 20226 SH-7, Marquez, Texas 77865. All who attend are asked to bring and share their favorite memory of Keith as his life is celebrated by all who knew and loved him.
