Geraldine Barber Obituary

Geraldine Barber, age 86, of Story City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at the Bethany Life Communities in Story City, IA.
Geraldine Hope (Curry) Barber was born July 8, 1939 to George Curry and Marjorie Vail, on a farm in north Warren, Minnesota. She attended Lewiston Public Schools and graduated high school in June 1957 as Valedictorian of her class.
She was united in marriage to Donald V. Barber on August 30, 1957 in St. Charles, Minnesota. Throughout their marriage, they resided in Minnesota and California, before making Iowa their permanent home. They had four children: Dean, Jay, Dale, and Jared.
She stayed at home for many years to raise her family. She later decided to attend DMACC to obtain her LPN certificate. She worked at Story County Hospital and worked until her retirement at Northcrest Community in Ames, IA.
She was an avid cook, baker, and she loved to crochet. You usually found her in the kitchen on a home football game day making chili and peanut butter sandwiches for the football team and other friends. After the games, everyone would go to the Barber house for a feast.
She is survived by her sons, Dean (Stephaney) of Phillips, WI; Dale (Monica) of State Center; and Jared (Mindy) of Story City; ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, son Jay, her parents, brother Fred, and three great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends
