Mrs. Gertie E. Hughes passed into eternal rest on October 25, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Cass County Indiana; she is the daughter of Clarence and Edith Kidd. She held many positions in her life. She worked in her family restaurant, she worked at international bag and was a beautician in Jackson, Tn, she was cook for Woody's Restaurant and Circle C Boy's Home. She and her husband Dean owned the Gulf station off 1-40. She was a Sunday school teacher at Malesus Baptist Church in Jackson, TN. and at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Parsons, TN. She was a faithful member of VFW Auxiliary 4971 where she was Past President of the Auxiliary.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dean E. Hughes, Sr., 3 sons: Clarence R., Kenneth, and Lowell Hughes; her parents Clarence and Edith Kidd and 1 sister Gladys Helms, 1 step-granddaughter Rebecca Story.
She is survived by 1 son Dean, Jr. (Lisa) Port St. Lucie, FI., 3 daughters Deana Granger (Neal) of Jackson, Tn., Marsha Alli-owe of Parsons, Tn., Annette Ford (Glen) of Lexington, Tn. and Wanda Starrett of Parsons, Tn.
She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members that she loved dearly.
The last days of Mrs. Hughes's life was blessed with caring people of Gentiva Hospice.
Visitation with the Hughes family will be held on Sunday October 27, 2024, from 2:00PM until 8:00PM at Parsons Mortuary. Visitation will continue on Monday October 28, 2024, from 10:00AM until time of funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Monday October 28, 2024, at 2:00PM in the Parsons Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Tracy McCormick & Brian Price officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations made to Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
