Howard Dodge Obituary

Howard A. Dodge, a steadfast pillar of wisdom and strength, passed away on August 29, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on March 2, 1931, in Battle Creek, Michigan, Howard's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work and dedication to family.
After graduating from high school in his hometown of Battle Creek, Michigan, Howard's life took a romantic turn when he met the love of his life at a local soda shop. The couple soon fell in love and set their hearts on sharing the future. They eloped and married on January 17, 1953. Howard was then drafted into the United States Army where he proudly served in the Army Signal Corp until his honorable discharge as. First Lieutenant after serving in the Korean War. He and Virginia then settled in Lansing to start their family. After moving back to the Lansing area, Howard embarked on a career that would see him retire from the State of Michigan as a System Analyst for the Highway Department. His analytical mind and problem-solving skills made him a respected figure among his colleagues. Howard was an active member of the Moose, American Legion, and many other organizations.
He, Virginia and their children, traveled extensively across the United States, camping and creating memories. His passion for golf was only matched by his love for the games of Yahtzee and 7&7, which he enjoyed in the company of friends and loved ones.
An intelligent and analytical thinker allowed Howard to pass on life lessons and practical knowledge to his children. He was always a strong provider for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie Dodge, his beloved wife, Virginia Dodge (2021), two sisters, Elizabeth (Walter) Smith and Barbara (Fred) Kramer.
Howard is survived by his two daughters, Diane (Lyle) Stampski and Lorie (Gregory) Carlson; grandchildren Nicole (Travis) Mifflin, Jennifer Lucas, Tyler Lucas, Jessica Cipullo, Katie (Tyler ) Clark, Ryan (Tiffany) Cipullo, Erica (Jessee) Williams, Jaclyn Allan, and Nikola (Kevin) Pierfelice; great-grandchildren, Johnthan, Alexander and Thomas Rose; Abilgai, Boaz, and Zachary Mifflin; Ruby, Kellen, and Declan Lucas, Sebastian Finley, Nella and Cora Williams, Benjamin and Charlotte Cipullo, great-great grandson, Kelsier Lucas, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel 520 East Mount Hope Avenue, Lansing with Chaplain Steve Ezop officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00 PM and will continue Thursday at the funeral home at 11:00 AM until the time of service. A Luncheon will follow immediately after graveside service at Promise Assembly of God, 210 W Washington St. Dewitt 48820.
