DATELINE: ADRIAN, MICHIGAN Gladys Loreen Hight, 91, of Adrian, Michigan passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024.
She was born in Akron, Indiana on December 4, 1933 to the late Harold David and Doris Annabelle (Scriver) Hammond. She married the love of her life, Chester Hight, on March 20, 1954. They shared 33 years of marriage together until his passing on April 9, 1988.
Gladys worked at Wallace Furniture as a sales lady. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Gladys was an avid sports lover and rooted for the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, Michigan football and basketball, and IU basketball.
She is survived by her children, Deb(Lee) Wentworth of Adrian, Michigan, Alan (Beth) Hight of Peru, Indiana, three grandchildren, Tim (Meredith) Hight, Christopher (Katie) Hight, Ashley Yearling, two great grandchildren, Nathan and Carter, a brother, Bud Hammond of Akron, Indiana, and a sister, Marla Vazquez of LaPorte, Indiana.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Eric, brother, James Hammond, and a sister, Arlene Cole.
Visitation will be held from 9am to 10am at the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 411 North Grant Street, Peru, Indiana. The funeral service will follow at 10am with Pastor Julie Walker officiating. Interment will take place next to her husband in Mount Hope Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Local arrangements in Adrian, Michigan were entrusted to Purse & Son Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Michigan. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
