Michael Glenn Schlemmer, born on January 15, 1952, in Milford, Ohio, and passed away on Wednesday July 2, 2025, at his home in Corbin, Kentucky.
He was a beloved father, a steadfast protector, and an admired member of his community. He served as a police officer while in Ohio, demonstrating courage and dedication that won him the respect and admiration of those he served. Later, he found his calling in the corridors of Baptist Health in Corbin, Kentucky, where he worked as a Security Officer until his retirement. His commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others was a testament to his strength and kindness. He was a man who could often be found working diligently in his yard, finding joy in mowing.
Michael was a tower of strength for his son, Michael Schlemmer Paul, who survives him. In addition to his son, he is survived by sister-in-law, Karen Paul Shanks, and by his cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Paul Schlemmer; parents, Robert and Pearl Giles Schlemmer.
Visitation for Michael will be held from 12-1pm on Sunday July 6, 2025, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where his funeral service will be held at 1pm with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating.
Burial will follow in the McFarland Cemetery, Cedar Gap, Kentucky. Serving as pall bearers will be Michael Schlemmer Paul, James D. Thomas, and Tom Meadors
