Glenwood Mitchell Obituary

Glenwood Fisher Mitchell of Windsor, NC, answered the Master's call on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at his residence. Glenwood, a native of Bertie County, NC, was born on January 19, 1948, and was the son of the late Arthur and Georgia Mitchell. Mitchell was a member of the Piney Wood Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where he joined at an early age. He graduated from Elizabeth City State University in 1970. While there, he became a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. After 40 years of service, Mitchell retired from the Bertie County Public School System. He leaves to cherish fond memories: one daughter, Tonya Mitchell Peele (Michael) of Wake Forest, NC; one son, Max Mitchell of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Arthurice Mitchell of Rocky Mount, NC; one grandson, Marcel Mitchell Peele of Charlotte, NC, and a godson, Eddie Graham (Connie) of Elizabeth City, NC; three nieces, Daphne Bond of Windsor, NC, Mattison Bond of Durham, NC and Mattelyn Bond Futrell of Charlotte, NC; two nephews, Matthew Bond, Sr. of Windsor, NC, and Matthew Bond, Jr. of Greenville, NC; a host of cousins and many friends.
