Gliceria Bobis “Cherry” a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and cherished friend, passed away on January 4, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born on August 27, 1955, in Naga City, Philippines. Gliceria’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven from her caring nature, intelligence, and boundless love for her family and friends.
A proud graduate of Arellano University, earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing year 1991 and she was in Bachelor of Arts major in Political Science in UNC. Her career in nursing was only a reflection of her caring personality, as she dedicated herself to helping others. Her passion for knowledge turned her into a beloved authority among her family and friends; she was admired for her ability to memorize vast amounts of information, earning her the affectionate title of "walking Dictionary and Google." A notable player in scrabble, her wit and wordplay often sparked laughter and joy among those who gathered around the table.
Gliceria's vibrant spirit extended beyond her education and career. She is very sporty and always excels in all the sports she plays with when she was younger. From being a Dart Champion, Bowling and a Varsity Volleyball player when she was in the University. She embraced her diverse hobbies with enthusiasm, whether she was playing Candy Crush or watching fishing vlogs on her Ipad. She is fond of Alden Richards, her favorite celebrity in the Philippines, as she claims her second husband. She loves reading books especially mystery drama and supernatural horror, her favorite mystery story was Nancy Drew. She traveled extensively with her beloved husband, Teodosio Bobis, creating cherished memories together, sharing delicious meals in various restaurants, and relishing in family gatherings during holidays.
Her love for cooking was legendary, and her family fondly remembers the warmth of gathering around the dining table for family meals, especially during holidays. She tried all the means to help her family from selling cooked food, bread and different kinds of desserts. Gliceria's generous heart led her to buy thoughtful gifts for everyone she loved, always seeking ways to brighten their day.
Gliceria was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Teodosio and parents Laurito and Julita Casupang.
Her family will remember her as a devoted matriarch who always put family first. Gliceria is survived by daughters Carmela Tanaquin, Clarissa Astudillo, and Marie Cielo Talingdan, along with their respective spouses, Anthony Tanaquin, Sherwin Astudillo, and Ariston Froilan Talingdan; her sons, Cromwell Bobis and Carl Eugene Bobis, along with their respective spouses Christine Bobis and Irlene Bobis. Her grandchildren, Carliana Bobis, Shawn Patrick Astudillo, and Cailer Isaiah Bobis, were a source of immense joy and pride in her life.
Gliceria’s passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who loved her, but her spirit will forever live on in the countless memories and lessons she imparted to her family. A visitation will take place at Halpin-Bitecola-Brookdale Funeral & Cremation Services in Bloomfield, NJ, on January 8, 9, and 10, 2025, with a Mass held at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church in Nutley, NJ, on January 11, followed by cremation at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, NJ. In these days of reflection, may we celebrate her life, recalling the joy she brought to our lives and the love that will forever bind us to her memory.
