Gloria Jean (Whittenberg) Weiss, born August 6, 1934, died October 29, 2024.
Gloria earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Toledo, class of 1957, and a master’s degree from the University of Dayton. She was a teacher of junior high school and high school, a job she loved. She was also the Dean of Students at Springfield North High School in Springfield, Ohio. She was a lifelong educator continuing to tutor young people into her 80’s.
She was an avid reader and crafter, loving to knit, needle point, and cross-stitch often with her friends. She had many friends whom she loved and who brought her great joy; her home was filled with pictures of friends and family. Her greatest joy was her family.
Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Philip J. Weiss. She is also survived by her twin sons, Michael Weiss (Mick Bennett), and Martin (Jane) Weiss, and their sons, Jacob (Mikaela) Weiss and Nicholas Weiss; her sister, Norma Self; and her brother, Don Whittenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Church in the Hills, 6401 Shanty Creek Road, Bellaire, MI 49615. Following the service, a celebration of Gloria's life will be held at the Corner Bistro in Bellaire from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
