Hans David Shmigelsky, 40, of Stratford, formerly of Bethany and Cheshire,CT passed away unexpectedly due to an auto accident on September 13, 2024. He was born May 15, 1984 in New Haven, CT to Hans Peter and Anita Shmigelsky of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He is survived by his loving parents and two sisters; Erika Meyers and husband, John Meyers and nephew John Peter Meyers of Wilmington, North Carolina and Christina Killman and husband, Ian Killman of York, South Carolina. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as pre-deceased grandparents, Robert and Inez Boughton and Peter Shmigelsky and Charlotte Von Voss.
Hans David Shmigelsky was a lifelong resident of Connecticut. He attended Laurel Oaks, Adventist school, where he had many marvelous and caring teachers, including our own Mrs. Eileen Brown. He loved the Lord. He always reached out to help others. He attended Shenandoah Valley Academy in New Market, Virginia, and later graduated from Amity Regional High School in Woodbridge, Connecticut. He was a lover of all things physically active. He was an athlete who enjoyed many sports, including our weekend ski trips with the family, water, sports, fishing, boating and hiking the Appalachian Trail. He loved learning about and appreciated all of God's creations. He was a true lover of nature and animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed his time as a skilled dog trainer. He was a gifted and talented tradesman who loved being physical and working with his hands in many construction trades. He was a homebody who treasured his time with family. He was a lover of tradition, especially around the holidays. He loved adventure and travel, especially mission trips where he could share his love of helping others and spreading God's love. He never had much to give, but would give it all to those he loved. He will be missed tremendously, but will always live on in our hearts.

I met him right after the accident happened. I was one of the first in scene and I helped him until the actual help arrived. I´ll never forget the way he held my hand and told me his name. He seems like a great man, gone too soon. I asked our priest to do the mass in his memory the following day, and he has been on my mind every single day since. There will never be a day where I don´t pray for him. Much love to you all.
