Hattie Varue Starnes, 99, of Vashti, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Vashti Methodist Church in Vashti, Texas. Burial will be in the Vashti Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta.
Hattie was born on May 16, 1925 to Jimmy and Lora (Denny) Gibson. She married Billy Don Starnes on October 21, 1950 in Petrolia, Texas. Hattie was a member of the Vashti Methodist Church in Vashti, Texas and was retired from banking where she worked as a teller. Her and Billy also owned and operated a dairy in Vashti, for numerous years.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Billy Don and three sisters, Jeanette Caddell, Ann Massie and LaMarylis Fore.
Survivors include her son, Britt Starnes and wife Tammi of Valley View, Texas; Dana Moore and husband Allen of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Lexi Prigmore and husband Brad, Audrey Hardin, Mark Hardin, Hillery Cournoyer and husband Josh, Holdun Moore and wife Lorie, Samantha Starnes and Slade Starnes; great-grandchildren, Kerigan Cournoyer, Kane Cournoyer, Karsyn Cournoyer, Alder Moore and Hayden Moore; brother-in-law, Sonny Fore.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 6-7 pm at Davis Funeral Home.
A reception with coffee and Hattie's famous cookies, made by her family, will follow the funeral service at the Vashti Methodist Church.
