Henry "Harry" Kirkpatrick Tardy of Houston, Texas was born March 4, 2005 and died December 19, 2024 in a tragic auto accident.
A ninth-generation Texan, Harry is survived by his parents Philip and Courtney Tardy; sisters, Cecily and Winifred Tardy; grandparents, Jim and Betty Key, and Kathryn "Kitty" Tardy; uncle and aunt, Peter and Tana Key; and cousin, Everett Key. He was preceded by his grandfather, James Tardy.
Harry had a great zest for life, an insatiable curiosity for people, and a multitude of friends. He delighted and exasperated every teacher and coach he ever had. He could discuss literature and politics, shoot a turkey, harvest clams, and cook a beautiful steak. And, he loved music.
Harry attended Roberts Elementary, Pin Oak and Pershing Middle Schools, and St. Thomas High School, all in Houston. He was a sophomore at the College of Charleston and a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Harry made an impression wherever he went, and what anyone knows of Harry only scratches the surface. The world is less bright today since Harry is longer with us.
A memorial service attended by over 1,200 friends was held on December 23, 2024 at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts in memory of Harry are directed to (https://www.sths.org/support/fundraising/memorialgifts) or to (https://homeboyindustries.org/donate/donate-online/).
