Mr. Hollie Myers of Hartsville died at the age of 89 at 7:46 a.m. Wednesday morning February 20, 2025 at the Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital in Lebanon where he was admitted February 14th in
declining health.
A private graveside service and burial will be held for the family only at a later date with Jack McCall delivering the eulogy. Burial will be beside his wife in the Myers family lot in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.
He was one of three children, two sons and a daughter of the late Fred Anderson Myers who died at the age of 85 on February 12, 1996 and Frankie Elnora Brown Myers who died at the age of 87 on September 12, 1999 and was born Hollie Richmond Myers in the Nameless Community of Jackson County on May 16, 1935.
His sister, Janel Faun Myers Hughes Cowan preceded him in death on December 5, 2022 at the age of 74.
Mr. Myers was a 1957 graduate of Smith County High School where he was an outstanding football player. While at S. C. H. S. he was the alternate Captain of the football squad his senior year and on the annual staff and the Spanish Club, was vice-president of the sophomore class, and class president his junior year, a member of the "C" club and served as the president his junior year. The only two teams of the ten games played to Defeat the Owls were Lebanon and Sparta.
In 1962 he graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Sciences.
He was reared on a farm in the Enigma Community and was a peacetime veteran of the United States Army.
In Ringgold, Georgia on December 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carthage native, the former Julia Ann "Judy" Langford. She preceded him in death on May 12, 2008 at the age of 69 Following fifty-one years of marriage.
Mr. Myers retired from Cunningham Motors in 2005 with forty years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was the operations director for the automobile dealership.
Mr. Myers was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his three children, Holly Ann Myers Robinson of Mount Juliet, Leslie Faye Myers Ford and husband Jason of Hartsville, Barry Richmond Myers and wife Lisa also of Hartsville; brother-in-law, Ron Cowan of the Hickman Community; brother, Morris Myers and wife Glenda Sanderson Myers of the Enigma Community; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
