Irene Mary (Nyenhuis) Hopp, age 92, of Sheboygan passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Center.
Irene was born on July 21, 1932, to the late Harvey & Minnie Nyenhuis. She attended local schools and graduated from Central High School, class of 1950. She was united in marriage to Alexander Hopp on November 5, 1952, in Sheboygan.
Irene was a skilled knitter, gifting many family members with precious baby blankets, cherished marriage afghans and cozy sweaters. The family remembers fondly the many competitive domino matches and singing hymns around the piano as she played. We are comforted in knowing she is now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, adding her voice to the heavenly chorus.
Irene is survived by her children, Andy (Lynn) Hopp and Wanda (John) Wilking, son-in-law, Eric Tan; seven grandchildren, Rebecca (Franck) Dedeine, Rachel (Greg) Hopp/Hoganson, Alexander (Kimberly) Hopp/Vue, Samuel and Abram Hopp, Chatham and Bentley Wilking; two great grandchildren, Georges and Maxine Dedeine; and her siblings Joyce Lemkuil, Nancy Veenendaal and Jack Nyenhuis; and other family and friends. Along with her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander and a daughter, Anna Mae Tan.
Private family services will take place. Irene will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at Sunrise Memorial Garden.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Prairie Crossings and Pine Haven for the wonderful care given to Irene in the last 3 years. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the wonderful staff on the 4th floor of St. Nicholas Hospital and to the compassionate caregivers at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.
