Ivan Curtis Burch passed away on September 24, 2024. Born in Evansville, Indiana on February 8, 1948 to Eugene and Ava Nell Vickery Burch. Ivan was the third of 10 children, most of which still live in northern Indiana. He moved with his family to Cedar Lake, Indiana in 1960 and in 1962 to Highland, Indiana at the age of 14. Graduating from Highland High School in 1966, he attended IU-Northwest for a short while before enlisting in the U.S. Army in July 1967. He served for 3 years, spending 1 year in Vietnam and 2 years stateside.
Ivan obtained a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from Indiana University in 1973, where he met and eventually married Beverly Schild. He obtained his CPA certification and worked for three years at Ernst & Ernst and several years at Aero Drapery as Vice President. In time the company sold, after which Ivan joined a small CPA firm and eventually started his own window treatment company.
Spending time with family and friends was important to Ivan. He also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, especially Euchre, and traveling. He was known for looking for ways to make processes easier and enjoyed finding innovative ways to make things work.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, and children Emily Burch Klavenski (Scott), Ivan Burch Jr. (Amanda), and Alexandria Burch. He is also survived by three grandsons: Calen Klavenski, Sam Klavenski, and Ivan Burch III (Trey). Three of Ivan’s brothers, notably Rick Burch (Mary), Randy Burch (Pam), and Clifford Burch (Rhonda) and four of his sisters, Marlene Flores, Wilma Dorsey (Robert), Regina Newman, and Lisa Burch have survived him, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are both parents as well as brother Marvin Burch and sister Glenda Burch.
A memorial service will be held on October 12 at Life Church Eagle Creek, 5901 Lafayette Road, Indianapolis, IN. Doors will open at 1:00 and the service will begin at 1:30.
In lieu of flowers, Ivan would appreciate the support of his favorite charity, Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Ivan was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
