J.T. Harkey-J.R., age 45, died suddenly on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at KSB Hospital in Dixon, IL. He was born June 7, 1979 in Rockford the son of Randy and Sandra (Bartell) Harkey. He attended Oregon Schools and later obtained his Bachelor of Science from Northern Illinois University. J.T. previously worked for Sundstrand Corporation in Rockford and most recently as a gaming programmer for the Jersy Jack Pinball Machine Company in Chicago. J. T. loved being with his family. He also enjoyed reading and listening to music. He had a love for many types of music, especially jazz. He played the piano and the bass guitar. He previously played both piano and guitar for his church in Rockford during services. J.T. was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Iva Bartell, and his paternal grandparents George and Sue Harkey. He is survived by his parents Randy and Sandra Harkey of Oregon, IL; his children Brennen Harkey of Chicago and Ashley Harkey of Rockford; and his sister Heather (Ryan) Duessler of Wisconsin, His paternal grandfather Rev. Myron Bartel of Oregon, and nephew Josh Harkey of Georgia. No services are planned at this time.
