JACK "JACKY" FRANKLIN HOSEY, AGE 77
PUEBLO WEST, COLORADO
Cox Funeral Home
Lake Providence, Louisiana
Jack 'Jacky' Franklin Hosey passed away peacefully at the age of 77 in Pueblo, Colorado on October 16, 2024. Jack was born in Tallulah, Louisiana on December 07, 1946, and was the son of Pauline Guest Maddox and stepfather, J.W. Maddox. He married Donna Theresa Clement of Transylvania, Louisiana, whom he would share his life with for 54 years. Together, they had one daughter, Ashley.
Jack served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. During Jack's military career, he and his wife would travel across the country. They were stationed in Louisiana, Taiwan, South Dakota, Illinois, Florida, and Colorado. Jack's last assignment was at Cheyenne Mountain's NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) and Peterson Air Force Base, where he served as an Asst. Information Systems Security Officer. He retired in 1991 as a MSgt and then returned to Louisiana to be close to immediate family. Jack's expertise in computers and technology would later transfer to his second career as a civilian contractor at Barksdale AFB, where he worked as a computer programmer. He continued working until the age of 62.
Jack had numerous hobbies in his lifetime. In Jack and Donna's early years of marriage, they took ceramic classes and made pottery pieces that were gifted to their families. Jack took an interest in photography as well, which was a hobby that would continue throughout his lifetime. He also loved Corvettes and Harley Davidson's and was the proud owner of both over the years. There was never a creature too big or too small that Jack did not enjoy, but he greatly loved his dogs and cats. During his retirement, he discovered a new hobby of flint knapping with his dear friend Leo Perry of Haughton, LA. Leo taught him the art of flint knapping and making arrow heads and knives. In 2016, Jack and his wife moved back to Colorado, where he would spend his golden years with a spectacular view of the mountains that he thoroughly enjoyed. His daughter, Ashley, would also return to Colorado a year later with her husband. Jack spent countless hours tinkering in his barn, refinishing furniture, and putting out feed for the local wildlife. There was nothing more he loved to do with his time.
Jack is preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Guest Maddox and stepfather, J.W. Maddox. He is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Donna Theresa Hosey of Pueblo West, CO; daughter, Ashley Hosey Copeland and son-in-law, Don Copeland of Monument, CO; sister, Paula Maddox Driver and brother-in-law, Phillip Driver of Mountain Home, AR; sister, Brenda Maddox Roppolo and brother-in-law, Philip Roppolo of Shreveport, LA
A memorial service will be held in Lake Providence, LA on Friday, October 25, 2024, to celebrate the life of Jack. Visitation will occur from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home in Lake Providence, LA followed by a graveside service at Lake Providence Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. I worked with Jack on Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana for many years. We were civilians employed by a defense contractor to maintain the hardware and software for the B-52 Bomber simulators. Jack could always be trusted to give his all to each and every project that we completed (and there were many). Jack was a true patriot. Every B-52 crew member benefitted from the work that Jack did to ensure their safety and giving them the knowledge to complete their missions to make our country safer. We were there when 911 occurred. For us it meant some long hours and a lot of precision work in a short time period. Jack never once complained. Jack will surely be missed as he made our country a better place to live.
