James "Jim" Robert Allison, 78, of Dumfries, VA passed away on November 12, 2023, at Inova Fairfax with his daughter, Taylor, by his side. James fought a difficult battle with Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS).
James was born on July 14, 1945, in Texas, and was the son of Kenneth E. and Bernice Allison. On July 23, 1988, he married the love of his life, Dawn. They moved to Dumfries, VA and built their lives and raised their family together. He was a retired Chief, Operations Division Information Systems Directorate at the United States Army Operational Test and Evaluation Agency. James could not stay retired for too long before he opened his own business and then in the last few years worked at Home Depot. He valued the importance of hard work and had a work ethic that was unmatched.
One of the strongest, kindest, and hardworking souls on this planet. Early in life our father taught us the importance of respect and hard work. He was always there for his family whether it was to fix a problem, encouraging words, or help complete a project. When James was not at work or spending time with his wife, he could be found working on his cars, at the ball fields watching his grandchildren, drinking a cold beer, at the beach, or riding his motorcycle. He was truly a role model and a man we could look up too.
James is survived by his children, one daughter, Taylor, and three sons, Daniel (Ann Marie), Bruce, and Bryan, grandchildren Henry, Jack, Kyler, Landon, Aubree, and Sloane, and sister Judith Guzy and countless family and friends. James was predeceased by his wife, Dawn Marie Allison, his father Kenneth E. Allison, and his mother Bernice B. Allison.
The family will receive friends on December 1, 2023, at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home and Crematory. The visitation will be held from 12:00PM-1:00PM. The service is from 1:00PM-2:00PM and burial immediately follows at Dumfries Cemetery.
