James Cassel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dettling Funeral Home on Oct. 24, 2025.
James (Jimmy) L. Cassel Jr., 55, of Klein, Texas, passed away on October 14, 2025.
Jimmy was born on June 19, 1970, in Houston, Texas, to James and Melba Cassel. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Missy Cassel; daughters, Lindsey Cassel and Ashlyn Cassel; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Jenny Cassel; and parents, James Cassel and Melba Cassel-Schafer.
Jimmy grew up in Cypress, Texas, and graduated from Cy-Creek High School. He went on to graduate from the Lone Star Police Academy and began his career with the Harris County Constable's Office, Precinct 5, in January 1995. During his 30 years of dedicated service, Jimmy was promoted to Sergeant in March 2014 and to Lieutenant in January 2020. He retired from Precinct 5 on June 30, 2025.
Jimmy enjoyed life to the fullest and was always looking for his next adventure. He loved traveling, hunting, fishing, and never missed a chance to cheer on his Ole Miss Rebels. Above all, he treasured time with his family and the friends he considered family. He found the most joy in life's simple moments-from sitting on the back patio with his wife and dogs to taking in a beautiful sunset in South Africa.
He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Push Up Foundation Houston, and The Grove Collective.
Jimmy will be remembered for the smile that never left his face, his amazing cooking, and his willingness to help anyone in need. He met life-and even his illness-with courage, humor, and love. His light continues to shine in every story told, every laugh shared, and every heart he touched.
A celebration of Jimmy's life will be held on November 1, 2025, at 5 p.m. at 17515 Fairway Oaks Dr.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a charitable donation to Push Up Foundation Houston in his honor.
