James Hawkinson Obituary

James Verlin Hawkinson, age 71, of Philadelphia, MO, passed away on Saturday October 18, 2025, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
James was born June 13, 1954, the son of Thomas and Francis Flowers Hawkinson. He had a heart of gold and would give you his shirt off his back if you needed it. He farmed with his father for years. Later he worked at Maytag in Clarence, Dura Auto in Hannibal and Con Agra in Macon, MO. After his retirement he enjoyed listening to music, watching movies, taking care of the yard, eating at different restaurants, and his alone times. He had a long battle with Cancer and Heart disease. He spent his last four months with his niece Angie and Mike Ferguson's Home.
James is survived by his nieces and nephews, Angie Ferguson (Mike) of Philadelphia, MO, Harold Hooper (Pam) of Monroe City, MO, Laurie Hooper (Darrell) of Monroe City, MO, Kevin Hooper of Clarence, MO, Tina Kiser (David) of Callao, MO, Travis Hooper (Kim) of Lil Elmer, TX and Marie Hooper of Hunnewell, MO, adopted Siblings; Julie Cain of Iowa Tonya Nerini of Missouri, Linda Murch of Illinois, and C.L. Hawkinson, of Illinois.
James was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Dale Hawkinson; one sister Shirley Hooper (Burt); his two wives, Teresa Toller and Marie Hawkinson; a great nephew Daniel Beasley and great niece Crystal Hooper; his special friend Norma Brookes; and numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Morris Chapel Cemetery. Memorial can be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
