JAMES “JIMMY” G. RUSSELL, age 76, loving father of James Russell Jr (wife Sonya) and Greg Russell; devoted grandfather of Oliver, Casey and Jamie Russell; cherished son of the late Paul Russell and Jean Semple; dearest brother of Linda Davis (husband Elmer), Don Russell (wife Nancy) and the late Paul Russell; treasured long-time friend of Jacquelyn “Sunny” Mize; dear uncle, cousin and friend of many. U.S. Army Veteran.
James was born February 2, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated in 1966 from South High School, where he participated in football, track, wrestling and baseball. Pursuing a degree in accounting, he attended Bowling Green State University, until he was called to serve in Vietnam with the US Army. As an avid sports fan, James continued to follow the Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians throughout the years, even after moving to Florida. James was a skilled individual, utilizing his talents in the home improvement field. Striving to keep himself fit both mentally and physically, he enjoyed working on puzzles and exercising as possible. James passed away on August 5, 2024 near his residence in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida and will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

Prayer and Graveside Services with Military Honors Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11AM at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 Som Center Road, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Following the burial, family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of James at Mario Fazio’s, 34400 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills.
