James Lewis Obituary

James Davis Lewis was loaned to us by God, on August 14, 1997. He was faithfully prayed for by his older sister, Renee and great-grandma, Virginia. James departed this life for the next on October 24, 2024.
James was greeted by his mother, Priscilla Jacobs, paternal grandparents, Richard Stacy and Mazola Lewis, his great-grandmother, Virginia Lee Harris, and uncles James Wilton Lewis, Rickie Leo Lewis, and Johnnie Harris Jr.
The legacy of James will live on in the hearts of his father, Renaldo (Reno) Lewis, sister, Dora "Renee" Locklear (Cam), baby brother, Ayden Josiah Lewis, and maternal grandparents, Thomas Ray and Christie Jacobs. He will forever be loved by a special aunt Jessica Jacobs (Criag), three nephews, Renneth Jacobs, Randal Bagget, and Luke Locklear, two nieces, Rarli Oxendine and Dinah Locklear, and a special cousin, Morgan Oxendine (Bobby).
"James D," how he was known by his close family and friends, was a loving person with a contagious personality to match. As a child he played baseball and participated in the youth drama team and other activities at Union Chapel Baptist Church. At the age of 13, James gave his life to God, He grew to love Native American singing, dancing, and drumming, Attending culture classes at the Boys and Girls Club quickly became a hobby, as he proved how talented he really was.
James D loved people and at such a young age, knew everybody! You could often find him on the "dirtroad" or "reservation" hanging with his favorite cousins Christian, TJ, and Jerry. He was the clown of the group, always making others laugh, and leaving his mark on everyone.
James also loved riding with his Chapel crew Bryan, Ethan, and Hunter or spending his weekends with lifelong friends, Alexis and Josh. There was no limit to the friends James had or people he knew. As Renee said, "that boy can find a friend anywhere," and he did just that.
Over the past two years, James has enjoyed spending time with his twin niece and nephew Luke and Dinah. He and Luke shared a special bond as Luke would often ask to stay with him. James couldn't have been happier in their presence.
