James A. Smith, 78, of DeRose Street, Walnutport, Lehigh Township, PA, died Tuesday morning, May 16, 2023, in his home. He was the husband of Rolande G. (Fox) Smith since April 15, 1972. Born in Piscataway, Middlesex County, NJ, he was a son of the late Paul and Rose (Novesky) Smith.
James was employed as a cost accountant for JCS Logistics, Palmerton, and previously worked in the same capacity for the Verispan Corp. He was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Berlinsville. A Navy Veteran, Vietnam Era, he served his country with honor and achieved the rank of AK2 E-5. James as a graduate of the Bound Brook High School, NJ, and held an Associates Degree from both Penn State University and Thomas Edison College. He enjoyed playing the guitar, and going on cruises.
Survivors: Wife. Sons, Mark and wife Carol of Lenhartsville, and Matthew of Whitehall. 3 grandchildren, Cassandra, Alexsys, and Joshua. He was predeceased by a brother, Andrew.
Services: Graveside Services with Military Honors, 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 25, 2023, Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA. Arrangements, Campton Funeral Home, Palmerton. Online Condolences: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com.
