Betty Wingate Obituary
Born August 4, 1932 in Iredell County, NC she was the daughter of the late Hunter Brown and Ruth Perry Brown.
Mrs. Wingate was a graduate of Troutman High School and attended Lenoir Rhyne College. She worked as a secretary with Stanback Company, Rowan County Chamber of Commerce, and Trexler Brothers Menswear. She enjoyed working word puzzles, singing hymns, reading her Bible, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carl Wingate, Sr. in 2015.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Robert “Bob” Wingate, Jr. of Salisbury, NC; daughter, Susan L. Wilhelm (Vichard) of Salisbury, NC; sister, Jayne B. Deutsch (Michael) of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Cassidy Jean Wingate of Brooklyn, NY and Lisa Fawn Mirisola of Salisbury, NC.
Visitation will be held from 12:30-1:30PM Monday, August 18, 2025 at Summersett Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 1:30PM in the Summersett Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Jeff Philpott and Pastor Brian Farmer. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Salisbury, 223 N. Fulton St., Salisbury, NC 28144.
