Jane Haney Obituary

Jane Annette Haney, age 82, of Carlton Kansas passed away on October 6, 2025, She was born on October 26, 1942, in Abilene, Kansas to Lawrence and Dorothy (Holt) Fager.
Jane grew up in Abilene and graduated with the Class of 1960 from Abilene High School, attended Emporia State Teachers College and Kansas State University and worked for Shouse Implement and United Telephone. On May 17, 1964, she married Harlow L. Haney at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene.
A devoted farm wife who farmed alongside Harlow on their farm north of Carlton working ground, hauling grain, and delivering many hot meals to the field. In 2008 Jane retired after 20 years as a Customer Service Representative with Cox Communications in Salina.
Jane was involved in her community and a dedicated, active member of the New Basel Church, serving as Council president, Sunday School teacher and serving on numerous committees. She was a member of Carlton E.H.U, Hope Young Farm Wives, Kansas Sheep and Wool Auxiliary, Dickinson County Extension board, Rural Center School PTO where she was instrumental in starting the first Fun Night. Also, a volunteer at Dickinson County Heritage Center.
Jane was proceeded by her husband Harlow in 2022, her parents and brothers Larry and Bob Fager.
She is survived by her children Robin (Mike) Sherbert, Morganville; Darren Haney, Carlton, and grandchildren Colton (Laura) Haney, Courtney and Colby (fiancée, Danielle Prososki) Sherbert. Sister Verna Bender, Abilene and Sister in laws Prudence Fager, Clay Center, Jackie Fager, Olathe along with nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10am, Friday, October 10, 2025 at New Basel Church south of Abilene with Pastor Jamie Bonnema officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery, 1352 Daisey Road, Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to New Basel Church or the Community Foundation of Dickinson County and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
