Janice Marie Hall Moates, 76, of Laurens, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Hospice House of Hospice & Palliative Care in Greenwood. She was the wife of 52 years to the late Michael Flynn "Mike" Moates.
Born in Laurens, Janice was a daughter of the late Benjamin Hall, Jr. and Maudie Parker Hall. Janice had a 59-year career as a beautician in her own shop, The Beauty Hut, and later at Sharon's Stylette. She was a devout Christian and a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served in many capacities throughout her life. She loved spending time with her family and especially cherished time with her grandson.
Janice is survived by her son, Jason Moates (Erin), grandson, Avery Moates; sisters, Rachel Nelson and Pheobe Rumfelt (Ricky); sisters in-law, Vicki Smith (Gordon), Lib Hill, and Roberta Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Judy Walker and Mark Hall.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Allen Gregory. Burial will be held in the church cemetery immediately following the service.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
The family will be at the home of her son, Jason Moates.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 885 Bethel Church Road, Laurens, SC 29360.
