Jean (Leidy) Martin, age 89, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on April 17, 2022, at Sunrise Assisted Living Community, Wilmington, DE. Born in Philadelphia, PA, and the daughter of John and Mabel Issacs Simpson, she had resided in Wilmington, DE, for the past year, previously of Chadds Ford, PA, for 20 years, and Chester Springs, PA, for over 25 years. Jean graduated from Friends Select School. Devoted to her faith, she was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE, and was formerly a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Exton, PA where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was active with Church Women United. Jean loved to travel and enjoyed shopping; she also loved reading and participating in book clubs. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Martin, Jr., as well as her former husband, Robert Leidy, her son, Douglas Leidy, two grandsons, John Luckanish, Jr. and Michael Luckanish; and two brothers, Arthur G., and Morton Simpson. Jean is survived by her four children, William (Mary) Martin III, Cindy (Roger) Schranz, Cheryl (John) Luckanish, and Scott Leidy, seven grandchildren, Sarah, Evan, Brian, Jennifer, Kenny, Nicholas, and Whitney; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Faith Presbyterian Church, 720 Marsh Road, Wilmington, DE.
