Jerold "Jerry" Haydn Huddlestun, age 89, of Yale, IL passed away at 11:21 p.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Helia Healthcare of Newton in Newton, IL. He was born August 14, 1935 in Yale, IL the son of Haydn Y. Huddlestun and Ruth D. (Plank) Huddlestun. On June 8, 1957 he married Anna M. Kemper in Anchorage, AK. She passed away on October 19, 2011.
Survivors include his children, Joyce Steber (Gary) of Marion, IL and Jerry Huddlestun (Rhonda) of Newton, IL; sister, Delores Ping of Yale, IL; grandchildren, Lyndal Kosmatka (David), Allison Koester, Erin Frichtl (Lenny), Abby Milliman (Chad) and Daniel Steber (Rachel); great grandchildren, Adalyn, Alex, Aaron, Hayden, Weiler, Fitch, Hazel, Kane, Kamry, Ezra, Dak and Spencer; several nephews and nieces, great nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ann Huddlestun and brother, Ronald Huddlestun.
Jerry proudly served his country in the US Army from 1956 – 1958 in Alaska. He retired after 30 years as a heavy equipment operator for IUOE Local 841 in Terre Haute, IN. He also helped work on the family farm in Jasper County, IL. Jerry and Ann enjoyed square dancing and meeting friends at the local restaurants for daily coffee gatherings.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2024 at Markwell Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Knepper officiating. Burial will follow in Yale Cemetery, Yale, IL with graveside military rites by Ste. Marie American Legion Post 932. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12: 00 p.m. prior to the service on Friday at Markwell Funeral Home, 200 N. Central Ave., Casey, IL.
