Mr. Jerry Wayne Woodie, 74, passed away unexpectedly, at his home, Sunday, October 13, 2024. He was born April 8, 1950 in Wilkes County to the late Ray and Pattie Hemric Woodie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Patricia Woodie. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 55 years, Joell Cearley Woodie; his children, Ginger & Rodney Wagoner and Jeromey & Sunny Woodie; grandchildren, Nathan Phillip Wagoner, Anna Joell Wagoner; sisters, Linda & Tamie Finney, Robbie Martin; brother, Michael Woodie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joyce & Don Porter, Joe & Debbie Cearley, Kay Gerety; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jerry was a member of West Yadkin Baptist Church. He loved nothing more than mowing and keeping his yard and home to near perfection. He loved watching birds, squirrels and all of nature outside his back door. When he was able, he enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, and he had a deep love for his Doberman Pinschers, especially Doby. The family will receive friends, from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at West Yadkin Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life service will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM, with Dr. Craig Edwards officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Samaritan's Purse/Donor Ministries, Western NC Mountain Fund, P.O. Box 3000 Boone, NC 28607. The family would like to express sincere thanks and love to Jerry’s personal care giver, Kathy Martin.
