Jilda Croteau Obituary

Jilda “Jill” Jean Croteau passed away October 5, 2024 after a long and fulfilling life.

Jill was born on February 9, 1946 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, to James and Hilda Mitchell. Her childhood was filled with a tight community of family and friends, adventures of fishing, blueberry picking and school activities. From an early age Jill’s musical talent was evident with her piano and French horn performances. After high school Jill graduated from nursing school as she focused on her love and care for people.

Jill and then husband, Gary Croteau, moved their life to the United States for ice hockey and eventually settled in Colorado, where Jill flourished. She spent her days caring for and encouraging their three children, Jennifer, Shannon, and David, while driving countless carpools, volunteering at their schools and finding time to pursue her love of tennis and golf. As her children grew, Jill started a successful career in Real Estate which continued her focus on helping others thrive. Her life and home were surrounded by lifelong friends from each of her adventures. As a mother and grandmother (“Mimi”) she was an example of support, encouragement and strength.

Jill is survived by former husband, Gary Croteau, daughter Shannon Croteau Wanebo (Brendon), son David Mitchell Croteau (Leslie) and beloved grandchildren Zachary, Logan, Austin and Isabella Alpert (children of predeceased daughter Jennifer Alpert and Rusty Alpert), Makenzie, Savannah and Patrick (Wanebo), Christopher, Charlie, Cooper (Croteau). She will be deeply missed by sisters Sandra Dawson (Fred) and Marilyn Mitchell (Neil Sinclair) and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
