Joan Leich Griswell Obituary
Joan Ellen Leich Griswell, 76, of Traphill, NC passed away on Tuesday, 01/30/2024, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital. She was born on 08/06/1947 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, to the late Walter Micheal Leich and Evelyn Underwood Leich. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College in 1969 and had a love of history throughout her life. She was a prodigious reader, a skilled lifelong knitter, and a quilter, and loved virtually all kinds of handmade crafts. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charlie Griswell, a sister, Diane Hobby, and a brother, William Leich. She is survived by her two sons, Josh Griswell (wife Stacey) of Elkin, NC and Neil Griswell (wife Felicia) of Mitchell, GA; three grandchildren, Victoria, Josie, and Landon Griswell; great-grandson, Cashton Griswell (Victoria); also surviving is a sister, Susan Rackley (husband Lawerance, son Michael Lashley and daughter Stephanie Rackley), and a brother, John Leich (wife Linda).

Sincerest condolences to Joan's family from Janet and me. As one who knew her since her earliest days, she will be missed. When we were growing up I never knew her to have an interest in baseball, but such was the case in her later years. She seemed to be someone who charted her own course in life and with great success.
