Joanne Rushing, age 76, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at her residence. She was born in Griffin, GA on June 20, 1948, and spent most of her childhood in Reidsville. During her 11th grade in high school, she moved to Warner Robins and graduated from North Side High School in 1966. Joanne had lived in several different places including Taiwan before returning back to Reidsville in 1989. She had worked in Sales before going to work at the Reidsville Housing Authority where she retired. She enjoyed going out to eat; visiting antique shops; reading, and crocheting. She attended Collins Full Gospel and is preceded in death by her parents, Willie Joe Parker and Grace Coleman Bryant and a special aunt, Margaret Tidwell.
She is survived by her children, Chuck (Marie) Hutchison of Scottsdale, AZ, Sean Hutchison and Robin Murphy both of Reidsville; her neighbor, best friend, and her sweetheart, Larry Powell of Reidsville; her sisters, Pamela (Randy) Hinson of Perry, Penny Parker of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Damien Gridley, Zoe Scudder, Esme Murphy, and Zephyrin Hutchison; several nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, with the funeral services to follow at 1:00pm from the Chapel of Low Country Cremation and Burial with Rev. Andrew Nelms officiating. Interment will be in the Reidsville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Keith Beigle, Stacy Turbyfill, Gerald Henry, Joey Hinson, Bobby Hinson and Cole Hinson
