Joetta (Jo) Harland, 93 of Petersburg passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 4:37 p.m. at her home in Petersburg, IL. She was born on July 19, 1931, in Meredosia, IL the daughter of Oscar and Martha Jane (Surratt) Floyd. She married James Poeschel in 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 1, 2001. Later in life, she was remarried to Dennis Harland in 1974, and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2017.
She attended Meredosia High School, Meredosia, IL. Jo was a homemaker most of her life and worked at Mooseheart Child City and School as a Family Teacher.
Jo is survived by her sons: Jim (Janet) Poeschel and David (Rhonda) Poeschel; Grandchildren: Jacob (Lindsay) Poeschel, Jordan (Krystal) Poeschel, Donna (Matthew) McCauley, Johnny Murillo (deceased) and Jim (Laura) Gehrs; Great-Grandchildren: Campbell, Chase, Cort and Collins Poeschel; Avery and Tripp Poeschel; Jacob (Rebecca) McCauley and Amanda McCauley; 8 Great Great Grandchildren; 1 Great Great Great Grandson; Several Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, six sisters and a grandson.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on September 21, 2024, at Faith Community Worship Center with Pastor Jerry Thorpe officiating services at 11:00 a.m. Graveside service will be held immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 210 South Eighth Street, Petersburg, IL 62675, Faith Community Worship Center, 2493 South Spresser St. Taylorville, IL 62568 or the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the care and compassion of Dr. Laurent Brard and the staff at Memorial Home Hospice especially Jo's primary nurse Missy. There are certainly angels among us here on earth.
