John Fredrick Borger, 83, of Mason City passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 1p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery
John was born November 17, 1940, in Mason City, to parents Fredrick and Annie (Szymeczek) Borger. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1959. After graduation he entered the work force and began working for the Armor Plant in Mason City. He retired from Smithfield in 2003.
John was united in marriage to Judith Braun on March 24,1963, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mason City. The couple were blessed with three children Bob, Steve, and Matt.
In his free time John could be found working on his various woodworking projects. Woodworking was a great passion of his. His son Steve took after his father and has his own woodworking business. He was a long-time resident of Mason City as well as a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
John is survived by his wife, Judith Borger; children, Sergeant First Class (Ret) Bob Borger, Steve (Lisa) Borger and Matt Borger; Grandchildren Ashley, Melissa, Alex, and Michael Borger (Lieutenant Colonel Danielle Champagne); Great grandchild, Charlie Borger; siblings Joe "Sonny" Borger, Joanne "Tootsie" Borger, and Jimmy Borger; sister-in-law, Sharon Belseth.
John is preceded in death by his parents Fredrick and Annie Borger; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law Robert and Lucille Braun; and many great friends and family members.
