John “Jack” Vollmer, of Hermann, MO, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Zora Vollmer; cherished son of the late Edwin Christian and Margaret Elizabeth Vollmer. Devoted father of John Joseph (Kelly) Vollmer; loving grandfather of Jennifer (Tim) Rodgers, John (Erin) Vollmer, Melissa (Doug) Hawk, Bradley (Aimee) Vollmer, Allison (Mitch) Devine; loving great-grandfather; treasured uncle, loving brother-in-law, friend to many. Preceded in death by two sisters, Julie Vollmer and Dolores Grimm, and four brothers, Ed Vollmer, Russ Vollmer, Bill Vollmer, and Charlie Vollmer.
Jack cherished his wife above all else and was a devoted husband. Though born in St. Louis City, he always had the heart of a country boy. Fulfilling his dream in retirement, Jack lived on his farm in Hermann, his beloved adopted hometown. He was a skilled woodworker and a history enthusiast who also enjoyed gardening. Jack had an exceptional talent for working with all kinds of machines, showcasing his remarkable mechanical aptitude. An avid reader, he was always ready to lend a helping hand, and everyone who knew him thought the world of him. Jack loved deeply, and he was deeply loved by many. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday July 20th at Baue Funeral Home Cave Springs from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A graveside service will be held on Monday July 22nd at Calvary Cemetery. A procession will leave from Baue Funeral Home Cave Springs at 9:30 AM but friends of Jack can also meet at the cemetery at 10:00 AM.
Memorials may be made in Jack’s name to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital, Wings of Hope, Doctors Without Borders, Missouri State Children's Hospital in Columbia, School of the Ozarks.
