Janette Randolph Roper, age 92, went Home to be with the Lord on September 18th, 2025, in Burnsville NC. Born on August 22nd, 1933 she was a daughter of the late Dewey Randolph and Ruby McIntosh Randolph. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husbands: Richard Byrd, Gilford Roper; her two sons Bobby and Gene Byrd; as well as her sisters: Martha Presnell, Daphne Wilson, June Randolph, infant sister, Phyllis Randolph; and brother, Haskel Lewis.
Janette was a devoted mother to her sons Bobby and Gene. She lost her first husband in a tragic accident when their boys were young and she raised them as a single parent with the help and support from family and friends. She met Gilford Roper later in life and they enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Janette graduated from Bee Log High School; she enjoyed reading, including her bible that she used for daily devotions.
Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Nina (Wayne) McCurry of Fort Mill, SC; niece, Diane Hood of Fort Mill, SC; nephews: Randy McCurry of Fort Mill, SC, Dallas Presnell, Doug Presnell, Phil Presnell of Rock Hill, SC, Kelly Wilson of Burnsville, NC, Furlon Lewis, and Terry Lewis; as well as numerous other great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27th at Yancey Funeral Services located at 378 Charlie Brown Road, Burnsville, NC. Rev. Randy Randolph will be officiating. The graveside service will follow the funeral service in the McIntosh-Randolph Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral services.
