GREENSBORO – Mr. John William Jones, IV, 65, passed away peacefully December 4, 2024, at Beacon Place in Greensboro. He was born August 25, 1959, in Henry County, Virginia, to John William Jones III and Betsy Tuggle Jones.
John always had a passion for bringing people together. His family will always remember his culinary skills and all the fabulous meals he prepared. John loved being on the water, whether driving his family around on the lake or throwing a line into the ocean. He always enjoyed a good prank and a laugh, and did not take life too seriously. His most recent passion has been helping countless others battle strongholds and addictions and leading them to recovery through Christ. John dedicated the last 10 years of his life to helping hundreds of people find The Lord and live a servant life. John was a true servant to the Lord and he found peace in helping as many people as possible. He truly loved and relied on his congregation at Triad Church as well as his work family at Roto-Rooter. His Faith, along with his family, friends and church community gave John the strength he needed as he battled ALS. All who knew and loved John should find comfort that he has gone home to be with the Lord. His family would like to thank his housemates, Joe, Tracy and Trey. The family is forever grateful to Daniel Hopper for all his love and care he gave to John in the past several months.
Mr. Jones is preceded in death by his mother, Betsy Tuggle Jones.
John is survived by his daughter, Jenna Jones, his step-son, Joshua Dawkins (Allison), his father, John Jones III “Bill”, his two sisters, Clarke Meakin (Art) and Nancy Jones, his grandchildren, Axle Dawkins, Merry-Jane Dawkins, and Jet Dawkins, his nieces and nephews, Connor Kirby, Caleb Kirby (Ashley), Hunter Justis (Wes), Wells Meakin, Todd Ellis and Andy Ellis (Aom), and his great-nieces and nephew, Hudgens Justis, Jennings Justis and Aiden Ellis, as well as many other loving family and friends.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at Triad Church, 705 Sunshine Way, Greensboro, NC on Friday December 6th. The visitation will be from 12:30-1:45, with the service following at 2 PM. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
