LuAnn Margaret Wenner, 84, of Bastress Township, was called home to rest peacefully with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2025.
LuAnn was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by unwavering faith, love, and devotion. She was known for her selflessness and the warmth she extended to all who knew her.
LuAnn graduated from Montoursville High School, where she excelled academically and was actively involved in extracurriculars. She was an award-winning majorette and had the honor of serving as the Laurel Queen, representing Montoursville with grace and pride. She also worked on the school newspaper and later contributed to the Grit newspaper.
On October 13, 1962 LuAnn married her beloved husband, Carl "Sonny" Wenner and together they built a family and home filled with love, warmth and kindness. LuAnn was the proud mother of three children: Stephen Wenner (Liz Zimmers), Lori Scalleat, and Christopher Wenner (Amanda). Her grandchildren, Johnathan, Joshua, and Jeremy, were the lights of her life, bringing her immeasurable joy. In 2024 LuAnn and Sonny celebrated 62 years of marriage, a true testament to their enduring love and devotion to each other.
LuAnn deeply cherished the home she and Sonny built in the beautiful Nippenose Valley, where she enjoyed raising her family, tending her gardens, maintaining her home, and appreciating all of the natural beauty that surrounded her, reflecting her quiet, calm and nurturing spirit. LuAnn's home was a gathering place where family and friends were always welcomed with open arms.
She was truly the heart and soul of her family.
LuAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and LuBerta Bertin, her first-born son, Michael David Wenner, her son-in-law, James Scalleat, and her in-laws, Robert and Joann Wenner, Donald Wenner, Harold Wenner, and James Lorson.
She is survived by her devoted husband, children, and grandchildren, along with her brothers, Ronald P. Bertin (Barb) and David T. Bertin (Janice), her in-laws Lorraine Lorson, Margaret Wenner, Ronald and Joyce Wenner, and many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly and forever hold her in their hearts.
LuAnn's legacy of faith, love, and family will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Her gentle nature, boundless devotion, and kindness will be missed, but never forgotten.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 5973 Jacks Hollow Rd, Williamsport, PA 17702 with Rev. Bert Kozen officiating.
At the family's request, there will be no public viewing. The family would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support, as well as the dedicated care from the doctors, nurses, and staff at UPMC during these past months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in LuAnn's memory to Immaculate Conception Church, 5973 Jacks Hollow Rd, Williamsport, PA 17702, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
