Maxine Anderson Hartford, from New Milford, CT, dies on October 5, 2024, in Pittsboro, NC, at the age of 89. She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Royster; her son-in-law, Jay Royster; her "baby sister," Ethel Anderson-Krenkel; three beautiful nieces, April Daryanani, Christal Preszler, and Melissa Lindsey, and her granddaughter, Holly Keith. Her son Robert Lillis lives with his family in Florida. Maxine will now be reunited on the other side with her parents, Carl and Nellie (Hine) Anderson, and her sisters, Shirley Fredlund and Virgnia Trabold.
Growing up, Maxine sparkled wherever she went, and lit up every room she entered. She was everybody's friend and was an accomplished tap dancer, known as "Twinkle Toes Anderson." Her first job after high school was working for Connecticut Light & Power and that income allowed her to purchase a convertible that she enjoyed driving around in the winter with the top down and the heat on. She also worked at the New Milford Times for many years. After moving to North Carolina, she began working at UNC Hospitals in the printing department, a job she loved that gave her the opportunity to interact with many people in all departments of the hospital. She retired after twenty-five years of service and spend several years as a church secretary, first at The Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Apex, NC, and then at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Pittsboro, NC. She finally retired completely when she turned 80 and enjoyed helping her daughter and son-in-law care for their many animals.
There will be a celebration of Maxine's life in New Milford, CT, in the spring of 2025.
