John Edward Schmidt, 85 of Golden, CO passed away on June 15, 2024
John was born in Newark NJ on April 2nd, 1939. He lived in Maplewood, NJ and graduated Columbia High School in 1957. He also attended NJIT to pursue an Engineering degree.
John married Karen Lee on April 23, 1961 and is survived by their two children, Donna Schmidt of Sparta, MI and John (& Jennifer) Schmidt of Jupiter, FL. John re-married Isabel Lopez on October 15, 1999 and together lived in Golden, CO.
John is also survived by his grandchildren, John David Schmidt, Steven Carl Schmidt, sister, Barbara Ray, cousin, Joyce Sueta and many “nieces and nephews”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilda, his first wife Karen and his second wife Isabel.
John was a Sales Agent and business owner in the power control industry. Having started his career at Automatic Switch Company in Hanover, NJ in 1959, working until the week before he passed as the principle of Power Control Products, Genesee, CO.
His hobbies were working around the house, dining out and spending time at his business. John also spent many hours enjoying the beautiful scenery in his beloved Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be given to the American Heart Association or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
The funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 26th 11:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Funeral home located at 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. Lakewood, CO 80227
The burial will follow services on Wednesday June 26th, 1:00 PM at the Golden City Cemetery.
