Barry was born in Winchester TN on April 21, 1936. He attended Winchester Academy and was a 1954 graduate of Franklin County High School. Barry was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Upon completion of his military -service, Barry moved his family back to Winchester where they have made their home for the last 60+ years.
Following a 34-year career at Arnold Engineering Development Center Barry retired in 1998 as Manager of Precision Measurement Electronics Laboratory (PMEL) Repair and Calibration.
Barry was an active member of Owens Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for several years. He and Dale also enjoyed volunteering with the Franklin County Salvation Army as bell ringers and as early voting workers for the Franklin County Election Commission.
He loved being outdoors, camping with friends, caring for his beautiful farm, including a well-manicured hedge, and taking early morning walks with his faithful companion "Lucky", a spoiled Boxer. Barry was happiest when spending time with his family and precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He supported and followed them in their school activities, attended many soccer, baseball and volleyball games over the years. He also took great pride in teaching his grandchildren to drive his truck around the pasture and outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and gardening.
Barry was famous for his homemade vanilla ice cream which he dutifully made on any occasion or just when he ran out! He loved a good chuckle, reading Louis L'Amour westerns and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed and remembered by many.
