John Tarver Obituary

Funeral services for Mr. John Crawford Tarver, Jr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Reverend Vance Curtis officiating. Interment will follow in Bethel Church Cemetery, Deville, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Tarver, 83, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, in Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, Baton Rouge, LA.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; a man who loved the Lord above all else. He found joy in spending time with his family, working hard to provide for them, and sharing his faith through music as he played the guitar and sang in church. He was a source of wisdom, always guiding his grandchildren with gentle words and life lessons. The rock of the family, he lifted spirits with his jokes and brought joy to every gathering. His love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Pop Pop's life has given us the perfect example of a life lived faithful to God, will lead you home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Tarver, Sr. and Annah Tarver; two sisters, Shirley Humbles and Chris Burkley; and one brother, Boyd Dwight Tarver.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-three years, Lynne Tarver of Alexandria; three daughters, Connie Williams-Mathews of Alexandria, Kelly Doine of Pineville, and Rebecca Sacier; one son, Jeff Tarver; four grandchildren, Krista, Kody, Jonathan, and Anthony; three great grandchildren, Benton, Colton, and Rayden; one brother, Fred Tarver of Alexandria; two sisters, Winnie Prewitt (Herb) of Ball, and Jane Gunter (Johnny) of Libuse; and his little dog, Tootsie.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 12:00 noon until time of service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Kody Mathews, Todd Dement, Anthony Doine, Jonathan Doine, Benton Humphries, and Colton Bergeaux. Honorary pallbearer will be Ethan Morgan.
