Just found out about Johnny's passing, I'm so sorry to hear this, although I haven't seen Johnny in a while. I talked to him on the phone shortly before his passing. I have a lot of good memories of Johnny and family and then very heartbroken over this news my heart's prayers go out to the family!

Johnny and I were doing impounds one night. He was in his red wheel lift, and I was in the blue sling truck. Johnny had a Mitsubishi 3000GT on his truck, and I don't remember what I had on mine. We were going down Montgomery Village Avenue on our way to the storage lot with the alarms going off on both cars. In true Johnny fashion, he didn't have any straps on the car. Well, little did we k ow at the time. The car Johnny was towing had kine locks as part of the alarm system. Once the alarm went off 3 times, the line locks engaged, and all four wheels locked up, and here comes the Mitsubishi 3000GT off of the wheel lift. Once the car hit the ground and was level, the line locks disengaged, and now the car is in neutral, rolling down Montgomery Village Avenue on its own. I stopped and jumped out, and Johnny jumped out, and we both took off running after this car. Luckily, we were able to stop the car before any damage was done. Now Johnny hooked up the car again. This time, he used straps, and we made it to the yard. Looking back, it scared the crap out of both of us when that car came off the wheel lift, but to see Johnny running down the road trying to catch it was probably the funniest thing I had ever seen. That was only one of the first great memories I have of Johnny. Now, 35 years later, I can still picture him chasing after that car like it was yesterday. These are just some of the crazy things him and I did back in the early day of John's Towing. Johnny was truly one of a kind and will be missed terribly. I hope to see you again one day. R.I.P. Ole friend.
