Jolene Marty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Schnackenberg Funeral Home - Eureka on Dec. 7, 2024.
Jolene Fay Marty, 90, beloved by family and friends, died peacefully on November 18, 2024. Jojo, as she was known, was kind, caring, and a deep believer in the Golden Rule. These virtues and her Catholic faith guided her throughout her life, embracing all with uncommon warmth and a keen wit.
Born in Mankato, Minnesota on October 25, 1934, to William and Orpha Mutch, Jojo lived on the family farm until she was seven years old. Her family then moved west to Sacramento, California, where she would meet her beloved Donald B. Marty. They married at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in 1955.
Don and Jojo brought seven daughters into this world and surrounded them with love. Jojo created a nurturing home, where her ability to pay attention and to notice the little things communicated a loving regard for each daughter as a unique and special person. She instilled enduring family bonds, as well as an unsurpassed passion for reading! Family trips to the library, thrift store, or garage sale became treasure hunts for the next best book to read.
In the summer of 2023, Jojo left California and came to live near one of her daughters in Eureka, Montana. She resided at the manor (Mountain View of Cascadia), where she readily formed meaningful connections with residents and staff. She celebrated her 90th birthday with them, enjoying a bowl of her favorite Neapolitan ice cream. Her family is profoundly grateful to the good people at the manor and to Logan Health Hospice of Lincoln County for providing authentic care and community for our Jojo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Marty, and her grandson, Joshua Anders.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim Marty, Karen Anders, Kathleen Marty, Deborah Marty, Ann Marty Skaggs, Susan Marty, and Nicole Kurth, their spouses and children; her sisters, G'Ann Maier, Carol Lewis, and brother William "Bo" Mutch; a companion, Russ Mount; as well as extended family and friends.
In honor of her memory, please support your local libraries. Arrangements are under the care of Schnackenberg Funeral Home of Eureka, Montana. Online condolences and memories may be shared by visiting www.schnackenbergfh.com.
