Joseph E. Austin, age 92, of
Wisconsin Rapids, WI passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 in
Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic church. Rev. Barry Saylor will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 noon at the church. Entombment will be held at Forest Hill Mausoleum in Wisconsin Rapids with military honors from Wisconsin Rapids American Legion Post #9.
Joe was born on January 21, 1933 to the late Howard and Evelyn (Weisman) Austin. Joe served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955. He married Janice McGuire on April 12, 1958 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Joe worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Papers for many years. He also worked in maintenance at Witter Field throughout his live. Joe was active in his community. He was a member of the Wisconsin Rapids American Legion Post #9, as well as a little league baseball coach in the area for over 30 years. In his spare time, Joe loved watching sports, especially local high school athletics and Legion Baseball games.
Joe is survived by his children, Jeff (Mary Lou) Austin, and Jerry (Kim) Austin; grandchildren, Sam (Adam) Beyer, Jake (Maddy) Austin, Bobby (Hannah) Austin, and Becca Austin (Andrew Walker); great-grandchildren, Joey, Patrick, Damien, and Theo; as well as his siblings, Grace Martin, Leonard (Patsy) Austin, John Austin, Richard (Jane) Austin, Marian (Jim) Thurber, Dorothy (Al) Brod, and Catherine Raleigh.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Austin; parents, Howard and Evelyn Austin; siblings, Frank (Colleen) Austin, Ann (Jim) Seubert, and Caroline Austin; brothers-in-law, Louie Martin and Bud Raleigh; and sister-in-law, Donna Austin.
The Austin family would like to thank the entire staff at Edenbrook of Wisconsin Rapids, Arborwood Lodge Assisted Living, Aspirus Riverview Hospital, and Compassus Hospice for their kindness and care of Joe and the Austin family.
