Joseph Buttle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home on Oct. 28, 2025.
Joseph Concetto Buttle, 68, of Steubenville, OH, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Harvey, Illinois, Joe called many places home over the years - from Las Vegas to Colorado Springs, and finally Ohio.
At 18, Joe began working at Silver State Disposal, where he dedicated more than two decades of service. It was during cosmetology school that he met his beloved wife, Stacey, beginning what would become a 42-year marriage that could only be described as extraordinary.
In the years that followed, Joe felt a deep call to serve God more intentionally. He attended Franciscan University of Steubenville, earning his degree in Theology and Catechetics, and began working toward his master's. His studies and faith led him to the State of Washington, where he served several parishes as a Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation (PAFF).
Joe loved being outdoors, going for walks, and spending time with his family. From a young age, he had a passion for music and enjoyed sharing songs, stories, and laughter. His interests were vast - fishing, bird watching, reading, studying the Bible, following politics, and delighting others with practical jokes and clever puns. He was never bored with life, finding joy in whatever he did, especially playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Stacey Buttle; his son, Joseph Buttle (Monica), and Joseph's two children, Jackson and Vincent; his daughter, Jenna Mort, and her six children, Isaac, Caleb, Treyson, Dominic, Olivia, and Levi; his mother-in-law, Patricia Norman; his brother, Don (Diane) Buttle; his sister, Eileen (Kevin) Sechrist; and many nieces and nephews.
Joe will be remembered for his humility, deep faith, creative spirit, and boundless love for others. His laughter, kindness, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing he is now home - resting in the peace of Christ.
Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Greco – Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton from 2 PM until 4 PM.
Immediately following the visitation on Friday a Parastas Service led by Fr. Luke Iyenger will be conducted at 4 PM in the funeral home.
A Blessing Service will be held on Saturday November 1, 2025, at 8:30 AM at the Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV followed by a Funeral Liturgy at Saint Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 3116 Elm Street Weirton, WV at 9:00 AM on Saturday.
Rev. Fr. Luke Iyenger will preside.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Our Lady of Wisdom Byzantine Catholic Church Columbarium 2120 Lindell Rd, Las Vegas, NV.
