Joseph Gougeon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville on Nov. 12, 2024.
Joseph Orton Gougeon, aged 87, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, in Hanover, NH. Born on March 22, 1937, Joseph, affectionately known as a fun-loving man, lived a life marked by devotion to his family and a myriad of interests that brought joy not only to himself but also to those around him.
Joseph proudly served in the Navy, where he embraced the discipline and camaraderie that military life offered. His time in the service was a period of significant personal growth and left a lasting impression on him.
After his military service, Joseph embarked on a career as a carpenter, becoming a jack of all trades. His work was not just a job but a manifestation of his love for crafting and building, skills he honed with precision and care over the years.
An avid outdoorsman, Joseph's passions included hunting and fishing. These hobbies were not merely pastimes but a way to connect with nature and share memorable experiences with family and friends.
Joseph leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his brother Donald Gougeon; sons Joseph, Edward, Anthony, Kenneth Gougeon, and Gary Sutton; stepsons Mark and Timmothy Sutton. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Gougeon, his mother Gertrude Andrews, and his life partner Muriel Sutton.
A celebration of life will be held in the coming months to honor Joseph's legacy and share the joy he brought into the lives of so many.
