Kenneth Ferguson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory - Loves Park from Oct. 21 to Oct. 27, 2025.
Kenneth R. Ferguson, Jr., a lifelong resident of Belvidere, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 19, 2025. Ken was born on July 15, 1954, to Kenneth and Shirley (Mason) Ferguson, Sr. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1972 and went on to work in various factories in the Rockford and Belvidere areas.
In his younger years, he enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and was a member of ABATE for a period of time. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. There are countless memories of time spent at the family's cabin in Northern Wisconsin, where he really enjoyed fishing. He also spent many summers with his kids at the Wisconsin Dells. He was a big fan of rock and roll music, often listening to Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne, Journey, or Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was extremely interested in United States History and passed that love down to his daughter. He enjoyed taking his girls to movies, showing them books, and going to historical reenactments together. Anything related to history, he was down for! He was also a HUGE fan of all Chicago sports teams, with the only exception being the White Sox. He also despised the Green Bay Packers immensely! You would really only ever find him wearing a shirt that had either the Bears or the Cubs on it. In his later years, you could find him reading a good fantasy book and playing Bingo with his friends in Sheffield. Ken also had an immense love for his granddogs; they brought him so much joy.
He is survived by his daughters, Rachel (David) Zaytsev of Deerfield and Kari (Andrew) Nordmoe of Roscoe; grandchildren, Violet and Noah Zaytsev, and Landon, Lily, Jaxson, and Lincoln Nordmoe; siblings, Cheryl Ferguson (Larry Greyson) and Jody (Karin) Ferguson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 29th, 2025, at Honquest Funeral Home - Mulford Chapel, 4311 N. Mulford Rd. Loves Park, IL, 61111, at 6:00 PM, with a memorial visitation starting at 5:00 PM until the time of service. Family requests that anyone coming to the services wear anything Chicago sports-related (except White Sox).
